Opportunities for renewable off-shore energyDanish media reported on October 22 on the promising opportunities to create a cluster for renewable off-shore energy on the grounds of the closing Lindø ship yard, near Odense, Denmark. An A.T. Kearney study shows that until 2020 more than 150 billion euro will be invested across Europe in off-shore wind power and wave energy. There will be 215,000 new jobs created in this sector, but many countries will be fighting for them. The A.T. Kearney study showed that the Lindø area is particularly fit to cluster companies producing steel structures to the off-shore renewable sector, as all the necessary steel production facilities and competences are present.
